About

Erica, Espectroscopía Raman e Infrarroja aplicado a Cosmogeoquímica y Astrobiología, is a research group of the Department of Applied Physics of the University of Valladolid. The group is lead by Emeritus Prof. Fernando Rull and Dr. Guillermo Lopez-Reyes and its area of specialization is the application of advanced spectroscopy techniques, mainly vibrational spectroscopy and Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy, to planetary exploration.

Our group is currently participating in the development of two instruments that will be on board of two missions to Mars. The first one is the RLS instrument that will be part of the scientific payload of ESA’s next mission to Mars, Exomars, and the second one is Supercam that is onboard the Perseverance rover of the NASA Mars 2020 mission, currently operating on the surface of Mars.
